Hinterland

Okay Iowa, this is actually dope! Hinterland is a 3-day music festival taking place during August in St. Charles, Iowa. This festival is the largest in Iowa, attracting crowds of the thousands each year. The genres are alt-scene; alt-rap, rock, country, dance, etc.

The is vibes are hyped with some kicked back camping included.

Camp Euforia

Camp Euforai is another surprise gem on this list! Camp Euroria is Iowa’s largest independent music festival held in July on a once small-town farm-turned music festival in Lone Tree, Iowa. The scene is what you’d expect from a small-town farm turned music festival, alt meets country, meets a badass 3-day event camping friendly featuring amazing alt artists.

515 Alive

Ha! We guess there’s more to Iowa. 515 Alive is an EDM and hip-hop music festival held at the Water Works Park in Des Moines, Iowa every August. This is your typical fun and foolery music festival you’d find in other major cities like Austin, San Diego, Miami, and so on.

Maximum Ames Music Festival

The Maximum Ames Music Festival is more than your average annual music event, it’s a 3-day DIY local music experience based out of Ames, Iowa. Held every September for the past 10 years, this festival fosters a sense of inclusion, creativity, and individuality. Kinda reminds us of a baby SXSW?

Guthrie’s River Ruckus

Guthrie’s River Ruckus is exactly what the name entails. This is a 2-day country music festival phenomenon! Each July, the crowds come in the thousands, caravan and campsites ready for an epic country music rager at Guthrie County Fairgrounds in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
