Fractal Beach 2018

A February First!

If you have yet to start your festival tour this year, what a better way to kick it off than on a tropical island off the coast of Miami? Hold onto your boogie board brah, the event curator Massive Ideas, is blessing us with Fractal Beach Music Festival 2018. Imagine kicking it in the shade beneath the beautiful treeline that meets the shore, while you watch the waves roll in, and listening to your favorite artists throw down your favorite tracks on a stage right next to you! Sounds like a dream? Well fortunately, thanks to Massive Ideas, that dream is going to be reality this February 2nd-4th. Fractal Beach Music Festival is 3 days and 2 nights of transformational paradise guaranteed to leave you feeling like you’ve just ascended as a Jedi Master. So pack your floaties, party-pants, fire poi and meet us down in the Sunshine State!

Fractal Beach Music Festival 2018 will be held at Virginia Beach Key, at the Historic Virginia Beach Key Park. It’s an ISLAND! Be prepared to kick back or boogie down on on gorgeous white beaches, laden with coconut filled palm trees, and all the rest of the beautiful life that inhabits the island. The park provides us with a bunch of solid amenities like; HOT SHOWERS, charcoal grills, and boardwalks that give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the tropical mangroves.

As far as camping is concerned, it is on the island, but….there is only a limited number of beach camping sites available! Make sure to arrive early if you want that oceanfront patio at the house for the weekend. Gates open 9am Friday morning. Unfortunately there is no car camping at this event but the staff at Fractal Beach have organized a secure parking lot. Everyone will have access to their vehicles 24/7 through the shuttle service if needed, so don’t worry about accidentally leaving something in the car. If camping is not your forte, Fractal Beach is only a quick 15 minute uber from Downtown Miami. If you would like to stay on site but camp in style, Massive Ideas is providing a limited number of mini-cabins, with electricity, two beds with linens & pillows, and screened in windows and doors so you can wake up with that ocean breeze. A VERY, VERY limited number of RV camping passes are available. This includes a 20”x 40” space, and 2 camping passes; but be aware that there are no water or electrical hookups. Camping passes are required to get into all late night events and the campgrounds.

Since this is a beach festival, you may need to pack some items you might not think to normally take with you. Sun exposure is going to be pretty extreme, but the temperature will be very mild and pleasant. Be sure to pack some brimmed hats, sunblock, aloe, and everything else you may need to keep that dermis feeling right. Remember “tropical island” means lots of bugs! So, if your prone to bites or bad reactions throw some bug spray and Benadryl in your bag, as well. Don’t get overzealous with the idea of warm weather, it will be a little cooler in the evening so make sure to pack a layer or two just to be safe. Expect highs in the mid to high 70’s and lows of 60. Chances of rain for the weekend are slim to none but bring something rain friendly just to be sure.

Fractal Beach is offering a plethora of varieties of music and insane spectrums of visual production for everyone’s enjoyment. Show off your sickest dance moves at one of the 4 (well technically 5) stages, collectively built by some incredible groups of creative and talented people.

Mandelbrot Stage highlights are Papadosio, Heavy Dead, Toubab Krewe, and Exmag. Don’t to miss Atlanta’s Higher Learning (hip hop, live electronica) and Space Kadet (high energy, jam-tronica). All brought to life by the Danely Sound system!

Fibonacci Stage will be brought to life by the creative minds behind Incendia. Brace yourself and observe an absolutely mind blowing fire breathing stage, outfitted with custom L.E.D. screens and the one and only, Funktion One Sound. Artist highlights are Desert Dwellers, Thriftworks, The Widdler, and kLL sMTH.

Serpinski Stage will host the freshest in house and techno, with showcases by Secret Garden and The Electric Pickle’s party “Where Are My Keys?”. Once again, the stage is equipped with killer a Funktion One Sound system. These artists are accompanied by a gnarly custom video mapped stage setup that is ready to blend mind expanding visuals with beats of the same caliber.

Beach Stage…you guessed it, on the beach with a wide variety of music. After hours, the Beach Stage converts and becomes the bumpin’ late night stage. This will be the place to be to see music through sunrise. I pity the fool, that has worn himself out and misses ThazDope Beach Party that’s going down on Sunday, brought to you by Spankalicious. With all these different opportunities to check out such diverse music, this really is going to be quite the funky fractal party.

Fractal Beach is not just a music festival, it is a whole collective experience. Visual art will be in abundance everywhere you look. From the huge video mapped projections, live painters, large scale installations, the undeniable supremacy of nature, and the muse inside of all of us. There will also be a mural gallery to check out finished art that can be brought home with you. The festival grounds will be sure to leave you in awe with scalable and climbable interactive art installations that you become a part. Check out The Reality Playground giving you an insane VR or augmented reality experience. Take a mental vacation with beachside yoga and meditation. Classes will be running from sundown to sunset, enjoy and breathe that cool island air consciously. Massive Ideas is really going all out in cultivating a transformational experience. It really is going to be something for the books!
