Heading back to Hula?!

Suwannee Hulaween is always something to look forward to but to say anyone is just looking forward to the 2021 version of Hula is a cruel understatement. Not being able to travel to Spirit of Suwannee Music Park for this festival since fall of 2019 has taken away a yearly tradition, a way to release or find oneself, a place to reunite with friends. However, in a few days one piece of the universe will be reestablished. This year will be very different from years past for many reasons; the fest is basically under new management, there’s still a bit of a global pandemic happening, and people just aren’t in festival shape with this being many people’s first fests since early 2020. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to have an open mind and be flexible – expect things to not quite be as you expect. Be confident in yours and your crews’ ability to work with changing and new variables. Don’t sweat the little things and remember why you’re there!

Below are some specific tips we suggest you check out – some new features of the fest, music set selections, weather forecast, and more!

Music set selections 🎶

Thursday, Oct. 28

3pm 😻 Kyle Hollingsworth Band – You can’t go wrong with this wild cat’s fun sets. As the keyboard player for String Cheese Incident, Kyle’s band is a chance for him to show even more of his wacky personality!

8:45pm 🧀 2nd String Cheese Incident – Another cheese set but don’t miss it. This one is bound to get heavy into the night…with a certain headliner coming up, cheese will be warming up at record speed.

10:15pm 🌊 Bonobo (dj set) – Guaranteed smooth sounds from Bonobo. His DJ sets are always a treasure of selects!

11:30pm 🐟 Chris Lake – High energy house music to set the mood before skrill skrill.

12:30am 🤓 Skrillex – This headliner is only playing one US fest and no other proper shows in 2021. He picked Hulaween to be the ONE! The bass music heavy hitter will surprise naysayers with choice song selection ranging from house music to hip hop and everywhere in between.

After Hours 🔥 Incendia – If you find yourself in need of more beats after Skrillex, make your way into the middle of Spirit Lake where the Incendia domes will host surprise DJs until the sun comes up. You never know who will hop on the fire-y decks!

Vendors will be cashless (only accepting cards) and no longer using the old cash for ticket, ticket for drink/food system!

New stage – The Hallows!

Not much is known about this new stage (we’re still waiting for the map) but it is rumored to be closer to the main stage, if not right next to it. So long to the Patch stage.

Bag Policy:
  • Fanny packs measuring UP TO 16.5in x 6.5in x 4in are allowed
  • Single pocket drawstring bags UP TO 13in x 15in are allowed
  • (ALL opaque bags are subject to search upon entering the concert venue).
  • ALL BAGS LARGER than 13in x 15in must be clear plastic, clear vinyl or clear PVC.
  • EMPTY Kleen Kanteens, recycled bottles, and camel backpacks – water refill stations can be found at various locations inside the venue

As of now, campfires are permitted (there is no burn ban)! Please make sure to get firewood that is local to the area, or as close as you can. So, you don’t bring unwanted or invasive species that could be on firewood from other regions you may be traveling from.

Weather Forecast

Plan for rain on Thursday. Potential for storms and high winds. When setting up camp on Thursday, stick to only unpacking the minimal items you must have. Keep everything dry in the car until the weather clears up. For anyone coming after the storms, make sure to still bring rain gear *especially rain boots* as the grounds will not have time to dry over the weekend. Mud will be inevitable but manageable.
