So, the first thing you have to know about SweetWater 420 Fest is that it is first and foremost a celebration of that sweet golden nectar we all love so much, beer.
SweetWater is a microbrewery based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Every year, it hosts this little event to celebrate spring in the region. However, this little event has become a major player in the south easter festival circuit. Although it is competing directly with Wanee this year, there is a lot of excitement backing the underdog. 420 Fest has grown steadily over the last few years. The stacked lineup this year reflects the outstanding success of previous years! Check out the headliners each night…
Friday, April 17
Snoop Dogg, Thievery Corporation, Cold War Kids and Beats Antique
Saturday, April 18
Cage the Elephant, Primus, Gov’t Mule and The Floozies
Sunday, April 19
311, Moe. and Slightly Stoopid and The Wailers
Looks like a full weekend to me! The location of 420 Fest is another big plus. It’s right in the middle of the city of Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park, which is one of my favorite places in the city! However, one downside to the location will be parking. I would recommend riding Marta to Peachtree Center & the Dome/CNN Center/GWCC! Since the festival ends at 11PM, you will be able to ride back before the service shuts down for the night. Other than that, there’s lots of random parking in the city near the venue. It could get pricey to pay $15+ per day though. There are lots of hotel options in the area, as well! Things like that definitely make it easier to navigate a city festival and the logistics of drinking and such.
Soooo, let’s talk about the weather. As of now, it looks like there’s a good chance for rain at some point this weekend. There really is the possibility for a lot of precipitation. (as of Monday 4/13 at noon) So, take a rain poncho. No big deal. The venue is a mix of greenery and pavement/brick work. Hopefully, the mud will be minimal!
420 Fest is held inside a city with strict noise laws, so it will end promptly at 11PM each night. Luckily, there are lots of venues around that can host after parties! Here’s a list of some events going on after hours…

Terminal West – Pigs on the Wing ft. David Murphy ($15 adv)
